The Location

The house is situated 200 metres from Muizenberg beachfront, justly famous as a perfect beach to learn to surf as well as a family swimming beach – the most accessible beach on Cape Town’s warmer side, where the Atlantic waters are mellowed a little by the reach of the Indian Ocean.

There are many other family facilities by the beachfront, including Waterslides and ‘putt putt’ – (crazy golf). Muizenberg itself has many shops, including organic bakeries, a variety of restaurants (including vegan/ organic options), surf schools, and performance venues: it is one of the most diverse and interesting communities in the Cape.

The cob house is also 200m from Zandvlei, our lake and park area (home to the Cape Town International Kite Festival in the spring, as well as water sports and plenty of birdlife), and 5 minutes walk from the False Bay train station, which has regular connections to central Cape Town and south to other resort towns along the Cape Peninsula.

The Muizenberg section of the Table Mountain range has spectacular hiking and caving opportunities and can be reached within 10 minutes walk. Half an hour walk (or 4 minutes on the train) gets you to Kalk Bay’s popular attractions, via St. James, which features a wonderful and safe tidal pool for swimmers of all ages.

Also, for those with children, Planet Kids play centre is three minutes away from the house on foot.
